Making Tax Digital for Income Tax: Key Dates and How to Prepare
If you receive qualifying income from self-employment and/or property, you will soon be legally required to comply with Making Tax Digital (MTD) for Income Tax. The timeline for this requirement depends on the amount of your qualifying income, as follows:
- From April 2026: MTD will apply if your qualifying income exceeds £50,000 during the 2024 to 2025 tax year.
- From April 2027: MTD will apply if your qualifying income exceeds £30,000 during the 2025 to 2026 tax year.
- From April 2028 (subject to planned legislation): MTD will apply if your qualifying income exceeds £20,000 during the 2026 to 2027 tax year.
